Bookmark is a practice that students use to mark relevant passages in a book. Students use sticky notes that highlight questions, vocabulary or important points. They may jot down their personal responses, such as what the piece reminds them of, how it relates to their life, what they are visualizing, what they wonder or what they are confused about. Bookmarking encourages them to interact with the text at the time of reading and helps them remember passages at a later date.
