Reading Strategy 2: Predict what will be learned or what will happen.
Reading Strategy 11: Make inferences and draw conclusions.
(1) Show students objects that depict the qualities or characteristics of one of the key characters in the story.
(2) Ask students to create a web of assumptions about that character.
(3) Read the story in its entirety or chapter by chapter, while students confirm or disprove their initial assumptions. Over the course of a novel, the web can be changed.
