(1) Select a few key vocabulary words from a text the students will be reading.
(2) Have students write the words on the survey, indicating their level of knowledge about the given words.
(3) Have students read the text to further their understanding of the given words using context clues.
(4) Have students discuss, in a whole-class setting, what they now know about the topic and the given vocabulary, building further understanding by sharing ideas.
