Word Wall

Strategies/Skills Used

Reading Strategy 3: Figure out unknown words.
Reading Strategy 4: Self-monitor and self-correct.

teaching-the-activity-1
(1) Choose high-frequency words your students are using.

(2) Print words in large, clear print on tags. Display them alphabetically.

(3) Make sure the word wall is visible from everywhere in the class.

(4) If desired, place duplicates of words on the wall in library pockets, so that students may take them to their desk to copy and return.

(5) Work with words each day until students know them. As they become known by all students, remove them from the wall.
