Strategies/Skills Used
Writing Skill 1: I generate ideas in a variety of ways.
Writing Skill 2: I organize my ideas based on my purpose for writing.
Writing Skill 8: I re-read, reflect, revise and edit.
(1) Discuss what it looks and sounds like to walk through a gallery observing the creative works of others. Create safety and respect for the sharing of ideas and the appreciation of diversity. Have students create a sign entitled “Work in Progress.”
(2) Explain the focus of the activity: “We have all been working hard and there are many different ideas emerging. Please place your Work in Progress sign on your desk, and let’s walk about the room, enjoying the great ideas of our classmates.”
(3) Invite students to share positive appreciations about their peers’ work, any connections they make and any new ideas they have.
