Who Said What?

In this activity, students make predictions about the characters in a book based on conversation quotes from the main characters.

Reading Strategy 2: Predict what will be learned or what will happen.
Reading Strategy 5: Make mental pictures.

(1) Introduce the names of the main characters.

(2) Give conversation quotes from the book to the students, individually or in groups.

(3) Have students predict which quote is attributed to which character.

(4) Ask students to predict, based on the quotes, what they think each character will be like.

(5) Allow students to confirm or revise their predictions as the story is read.
