“Your heartbeat quickens as you hear a branch snap behind you. You wonder if someone is there. Is it an animal? Perhaps it’s just the wind. You can feel sweat trickle down your neck, and your stomach flutters as though filled with a thousand flittering moths.
“After what seems like hours, you reach the edge of the woods. Relief pours through your veins as your neighbourhood comes into sight. Just then, you hear another SNAP, and CRACK, followed by the unmistakable smell of smoke.
“Trembling with your heart pounding in your ears, you turn your head slowly to look behind you, and there at the edge of the woods you see…”
